Tutorials, workshop films, the making of and puppetry courses

Our puppetry for television workshops are suitable for film-makers, professionals, performers, puppeteers, educators and others interested in learning about puppetry for the screen. The courses include design and construction of puppets, manipulation for the camera, developing scenarios for performance, voice characterisation, and directing short performances.  For more information, click here!

Over the past 30 years Handspring Puppet Company has participated in the creation of over 16 theatre productions. Handspring was founded in 1981 and has grown under the leadership of Artistic Director Adrian Kohler and Executive Producer Basil Jones for 30 years. Based in Cape Town, South Africa, the company provides an artistic home and professional base for a core group of performers, designers, theatre artists and technicians.  Handspring’s work has been presented in more than 30 countries around the world. CLUNK Puppet Lab is a multi-disciplinary company based in Toronto, Canada. They create original work through the exploration of highly visual theatre. In this short film, Clunk showcases 3 prototypes made for a performance piece "How I Became Invisible". It uses techniques developed by German Puppet Master, Hansjürgen Fettig, who witnessed the development of German Puppet Theatre since 1947. His outstanding book, 'Rod and Table-Top Puppets', has influenced the work of many puppeteers worldwide. You can find more of the work of Clunk here.
